Clashis book 2 in the Crash Series by Nicole Williams and OMG...if you thought your nerves were tore up over the first book (Crash), well you haven't read anything yet! This book had my heart and stomach in so many knots I thought at one point I was going to be sick, but I loved every minute of it!!!
The book starts out with Jude and Lucy both at college. Jude is the star football player at a college 5 hours away from Lucy who is attending Julliard. Their weekdays are spent attending class, dancing (Lucy) and football (Jude), but their weekends are always spent together, Lucy never misses a home football game and Jude never misses a performance. Everything is finally going right for them except their occasional Lucy and Jude arguments, Jude is still his jealous, possessive self and Lucy still has her speak before she thinks attitude. (We witnessed alot of that in Clash) While Jude is at football practice getting ready for his game that night, Lucy is at his place getting ready. Walking out of the bathroom she comes face to face with Adriana Vix, Jude's spirit sister and head cheerleader.
Adriana Vix
Adriana had cleaned Jude's room and decorated it for the game and also washed, dryed and folded all of his clothes. Then she advised Lucy to just give up because Jude was going to be hers!!! (Can you believe that sh*t). Lucy is furious, but Jude assures her that there is nothing to worry about, he loves her and only her, she is the only girl he will ever want! Adriana is not giving up, she will do anything to have him and rub it in Lucy's face. With Lucy and Jude still trying to overcome their pasts (we learned in Crash about these tragic events) and now Adriana in the picture trying to come between them, Lucy questions everything they have together. Can they work together to get past this or will Lucy just give up on everything they have worked so hard to have?
White Trash Beautifulis the furst book I have read by Teresa Mummert, but it is definitely not my last! I loved every minutes of it even though parts of it broke my heart.
Jackson
Cass
Cass lives in a run down trailer park with her junkie mother and her abusive junkie boyfriend, Jackson. She is the only one supporting them all by working at a hole in the wall diner, pulling double shifts just to make ends meat. She tries to save all she can with the hopes of one day making it out of the trailer park. Both her boyfriend and her mom say they will get clean but time after time she is disappointed. She hopes that once they have made it out she can get both of them help. She is bitter and walks around with a chip on her shoulder as a defense mechanism, she won't let anyone close to her for fear of being hurt. She knows what its like to have something and then it all be taken away and she won't let that happen again. Everything is going along just fine for her until Tucker White walks into the diner and sits in her section.
Tucker
Tucker White (Oh my, be still my beating heart) is the lead singer of the band Damaged. In town for his concert he walks into a diner for a burger and meets Cass. He can't seem to get enough, he tries to get close to her, but nothing he does is right, she has walls up all around her. Cass knows she shouldn't give into Tucker, she has a boyfriend and even though he treats her like crap at least she knows he will never leave her, unlike Tucker who is only in town for a few days, but he is just so sexy riding in on his motorcycle, with his sweet smile and those beautiful tattoos.
Ahhh, just writing this review makes me want to read the book again and I just finished it 30 minutes ago lol
**POSSIBLE SPOILER IF YOU HAVE NOT READ EXISTENCE**
Didn't you just love book 1!! I know you must be anxious to read book 2 if you haven't already. I know there was no way I could not read book 2 after finishing book 1. Why do you do this to me Abbi! I need sleep!!
So we know from book 1 Pagan is far from normal. I mean really, she sees lost souls, is in love with Death, something is up with Leif and she somehow managed to cheat Death (not cheat on Dank lol just somehow managed to not fully die) Let's just say in book 2, her life doesn't get any easier.
In Predestined, book 2 we pick up where book 1 left off. Leif is missing. The entire town is filled with worry that something has happened to the star quarterback (uhg, stupid jock, we know it's just a front! lol). Leif is not human by no means. Why does the town need to worry. He doesn't even have a soul (everyone needs a soul!).
Leif is still convinced that he and Pagan will be together. He keeps forcing himself into her dreams. Dank has no worries about Leif. He thinks it's just a bad breakup that he just can't seem to get over. He has no idea that Pagan has been marked since birth and pretty much belongs to Leif because of a promise her Mom mad his Dad when she was sick as a child.
In book 1 Dank had to defy Heaven to keep Pagan. What else could happen in book 2? How about defying Hell?! Dank will do what he has to do to keep Pagan. She is his and there is no way Leif will get her.
Okay, so I am a bit behind. I haven't started Ceaseless yet, the third book of the trilogy...but...guess what?! I am starting now! Review to come later this week!
I'm pretty sure I say this every time I write a post about one of Abbi Glines books, but we LOVE HER! She is truly one of my favorite authors of the year. Ashley discovered Abbi around February of this year and since then we have read all of her books. We catch all of her releases and stay on top of her wonderful giveaways. She is just AWESOME! Okay, enough about our stalkerish tendencies, we need to get down to the book love, lol.
Existence is book 1 in the Existence Trilogy. It will grab you from the beginning and leave you practically begging for more. How is this for a kicker- Our heroine falls in love with Death! (WTH! How is that possible!!)
Pagan has seen souls (people that are left here after they die, they can't move on or chose to not move on because of unfinished business) her entire life. She used to acknowledge them, but once she realized no one else could see them she pretended that she couldn't either. As long as the souls don't know she can see them they leave her alone.
She arrives one her first day of school to see the hottest guy staring at her as she exits the car. The trouble is, she knows he is dead. She knows a soul when she see ones. She attempts to ignore him, but he talks to her. Not only does he know she can see him, but others can see him too. It's like he isn't dead?
"Yes, I speak. Were you expecting me to be mute?"
I leaned my hip against the desk. "Well, you're the first one who's ever spoken to me."
Pagan falls hard for him. What she doesn't know is it is her time to die. She has fallen in love with this beautiful, different soul that she met at school. She doesn't know he is Death.
Death has fallen in love with Pagan too. He doesn't want to lose her. He is about to break all of the rules.
Now! How is that for some kind of awesome! I mean really! Falling in love with Death! You have to read it. I know you want to know what happens. Is she able to cheat Death? Is Dank's (Death) love strong enough and his pull in the afterlife strong enough that he can do whatever he has to do to keep her?
“Well if it ain’t lil’ Manda all dressed up and coming out to play.”
The water I’d been sipping chose this moment to strangle me. Covering my mouth to muffle my hacking cough, I turned away from the warm breath against my ear. I had shown up here tonight for one reason: to see Preston Drake. Wasn’t it just my luck that when he finally decided to notice I’m alive, I started coughing up a freaking lung.
Preston’s amused chuckle as he patted my back didn’t help my humiliation any. “Sorry Manda, I didn’t know my presence would get you all choked up.”
“You startled me,” I wanted to explain my sudden burst of coughing.
Preston tipped a bottle of beer against his lips and took a drink while keeping his eyes cut toward me. “Are you sure it wasn’t my sexy-as-hell voice whispering in your ear that caused your momentary lack of oxygen?”
Yes that was probably it. But the guy knew he was beautiful I wasn’t going to add to his ego. Crossing my arms over my stomach, I took a defensive pose. I never knew how to talk to Preston or what to say to him. I was so afraid he’d look me in the eyes and know that I closed my eyes at night and imagined doing very bad things to his body.
“Damn, Manda,” he said in a low husky voice as his eyes lowered to my breasts. I’d worn a low cut white blouse tonight and a really good push-up bra in hopes of at least getting Preston to see that my body was all grown up. Besides, I knew he had a thing for boobs. It was obvious by the girls he dated… well he didn’t really date. He just screwed them. My boobs were not big but a good push up bra and the right position and they weren’t too bad.
“That’s a real nice shirt you got on.”
He was really looking at me. Or at them but they were a part of me so it was the same thing. “Thank you,” I replied in a normal voice that betrayed the fact I was breathing a little faster now.
Preston took another step toward me closing in the small area that had separated us. His eyes were still directed at the cleavage I had pushing up in full view. “Maybe wearing a shirt like that ain’t real smart, Manda.” His deep voice caused me to shiver. “Aw, hell girl don’t do that. No shivering.”
One large hand touched my waist. His thumb brushed against my stomach and gently pushed the hem of my shirt up. “I’ve been drinkin’ since four, sweetheart. You need to push me away and send me packing ‘cause I don’t think I can stop this on my own.”
Small whimper. Oh, yes. Should I start begging now?
Preston lifted his eyes to meet mine. His long pale blond hair that girls everywhere wanted to get their hands in, fell forward over one of his eyes. I couldn’t help it. I reached up and tucked the loose strands behind his ear. He closed his eyes and made a small, pleased sound in his throat.
“Manda, you’re real sweet. Real fucking sweet and I’m not the kind of guy you’re supposed to let get this close.” His voice was almost a whisper now as his eyes bore into mine. I could see the slight glassy look that confirmed he’d had too much to drink.
“I’m a big girl. I can decided who I let get close,” I replied shifting my hips so that he had a better view directly down my shirt if he wanted it.
“Mmmm, see this is where I think you might be wrong ‘cause untouched little bodies like yours all fresh and sweet shouldn’t tempt guys who are only looking for another hot fuck.”
Something about hearing Preston Drake say “fuck” out of those full pink lips of his was a major turn on. He was too pretty. He always had been. His lashes too long, his face too sculpted and you add that in with his lips and hair, you get one lethal package.
“Maybe I’m not as untouched as you think,” I said hoping he didn’t detect the lie. I wanted to be one of those bad girls he didn’t mind taking in a back room up against a wall.
Preston lowered his mouth to barely graze the skin on my shoulder that was revealed by the shirt I’d chosen. “You telling me that this sweetness has been played with?”
No. “Yes,” I replied.
“Come take a ride with me,” he asked close to my ear as his teeth pulled gently on my earlobe.
“Okay.”
Preston moved back and nodded his head toward the door. “Let’s go.”
That probably wasn’t such a good idea. If Rock, Dewayne, or any other of my brother’s friends saw us leaving together they’d stop anything from happening. And I wanted something to happen. Alone time under the covers thinking about Preston Drake was getting old. I wanted the actual man. I wonder why Preston hadn’t thought of that. Did he want them to stop us? I glanced over at their usual table and Rock wasn’t paying us any attention. Dewayne winked at me then went back to talking to some girl.
I looked back at the bartender, “I have to pay my tab first.”
Preston nudged me toward the door, “I got your tab. You go get in my Jeep.”
Okay. Yes. I wanted to go get in his Jeep. This would also have us leaving separately. Nodding, I hurried for the door thinking I may have just won the lottery.
Glancing around the parking lot I searched for Preston’s Jeep. When I didn’t see it out front I headed for the back of the building to see if he’d parked back there. Most people didn’t because there were no lights around.
Stepping into the darkness, I wondered if this was smart. A girl really shouldn’t be out here by herself at night. Maybe I should just go back to the part of the parking lot where it was well lit.
“Don’t you back out on me now. I’m already going half mad thinking about this,” Preston’s hands came around my waist and pulled me tightly up against his chest. Both of his hands slid up and covered my boobs squeezing them then tugging on my top until it was low enough that he could feel the exposed skin of my cleavage.
“Sweet God almighty, real ones feel so damn good,” he murmured.
I couldn’t take a deep breath. Preston’s hands were touching me. I wanted him to touch all of them. Reaching up, I undid the buttons on my shirt and let it fall open. I found the front clasp of my bra and quickly unfastened it before I could back out. We were in the middle of a very dark parking lot and I was being a complete slut.
“Damn baby. Get your ass in my Jeep.” Preston growled as he pushed me forward a few more steps then turned me left by directing my hips. His Jeep appeared in front of us. I was pretty sure we couldn’t do this in a Jeep.
“Can we, uh, do this in here?” I asked as he turned me around to face him. Even in the dark his light hair stood out. His eyelids were lowered and those long lashes of his almost brushed his cheeks.
“Do what baby? What is it you wanna do? ‘Cause showing me these pretty titties has me going a little crazy.” He pressed me back up against his jeep as he lowered his head and pulled one of my nipples into his mouth and sucked hard before flicking it with his tongue.
No one had ever kissed my boobs. The immediate explosion that went off in my panties as I cried his name hadn’t been on purpose. My head was pressed back on the Jeep window and my knees had completely given out. Preston’s hands holding firmly to my waist had kept me from ending up a heap on the gravel.
“Mother fucker,” Preston growled and I started to apologize when his hands cupped my butt and he picked me up. I grabbed his shoulders and wrapped my legs around his waist afraid he would drop me.
“Where are we going?” I asked as he stalked deeper into the parking lot. Had I made him mad?

The Gamble (Book 1) Although I love all Kristen Ashley books this series is by far my favorite!!
Nina Sheridan left England and flew half way around the world to take a time out from her clueless fiance in the Colorado Mountains. She arrives at the cabin she rented in the middle of a snow storm while fighting the beginnings of major sinus issues only to come face to face with the very handsome owner of the cabin. Holden "Max" Maxwell.
Max is not happy about the mistake the care taker made when he rented out his house while Max was scheduled to be home. He tells Nina that she has to leave. Nina is furious, she has paid to stay in this cabin during her "time out" and she doesn't feel good and now she has to fight the storm to get down the mountain. After a not so nice confrontation with Max she gets in her car and leaves only to end up in a ditch. There is no one else on the road and its snowing so bad she can't get out to find help, giving up she falls asleep in the back seat only to wake up in a warm bed, Max's bed. She is so sick she can't even hold her head up. Max takes care of her and nurses her back to health and decides that he wants her to stay the rest of her vacation with him at the cabin.
Nina is so confused, she took this trip to sort out her feelings for her fiance, who by the way didn't even call to make sure she arrived safely to the cabin, but she is having a hard time fighting her feelings for Max. The more time she spends with him the more she realizes that her relationship with her fiance isn't quite right. While she is making a life altering decision she is caught up in the murder of Max's ex-friend, who is hated by everyone in town, giving them all motive to kill him, especially Max seeing as how they hated each other.
Sweet Dreams (Book 2) my favorite Kristen Ashley book of all time. Tatum "Tate" Jackson (*sigh* I love him!!) is a bounty hunter slash part bar owner. He has had a rough life, seems like bad luck at every turn. So when he showed up at the bar for work one day and the recently hired Lauren Grahame is there in her fancy clothes he is not happy. Mistaking her for a goody two shoes he insults her, gives her dirty looks. Giving up on her dream that something special will happen to her, she leaves everything behind and gets a job at a biker bar, where she meets the infamous and extremely handsome Tate Jackson. After Tate makes his disgust well known she decides that she wants nothing to with him. They are always at each others throats, showing Tate that Lauren is not what he thought, he quickly changes his mind and decides that he wants her for himself. As he tries to make his way into her heart, they are faced with a serial killer, Laurie's ex husband who has tracked her down to lay claim to her and secrets from Tate's past that surface at every turn, not to mention Tate's ex best friend who wants Laurie for himself.
Lady Luck(Book 3) Tyrell "Ty" Walker was wronged by the town he grew up in, he was framed for a murder he didn't commit and once he is realised from his 5 year prison sentence he will have revenge. He just didn't expect to walk out to the beautiful goofy Lexie Berry. Lexie has had nothing but bad luck her whole life so she wasn't surprised that shewas forced as a "favor" to pick up some guy from prison, or that she would have to marry him to help maintain his cover. Both quickly realize there is something real between them, but Ty can't get past his demons and refuses to bring them into Lexie's world. Lexie learns what was done to Ty and is determined to help him get justice and give him back the time he lost, but they are both up against dirty cops that will do anything to keep the truth from coming out.

Chace doesn't want to dirty Faye with all his baggage but he can't fight the pull he feels toward her. Faye has to try and convince Chace that he really is the hero the town believes him to be.
I wanna rock (mental drums 'dun dunna dun na') ROCK! I wanna rock (mental drums 'dun dunna dun na') ROCK! Okay, okay, getting in my Rock Chick mode.....lol back on track. Who is ready for more Rock Chicks?! WE ARE!!
Rock Chick Revenge (Book 5)- Okay, so I love all of my Rock Chicks and Hot Bunch guys. I loved this book and for some crazy reason it slipped my mind!! I kept telling myself there are 7 books Melissa....which on is missing....AHHH Luke and Ava!! Whoooopps...I guess they all can't be number 1.
Ava hates men, she’s vowed not only never to get involved with another one again, but also to exact vengeance on her best friend, Sissy’s, lying, cheating, rat-bastard husband. Since Luke, Ava's childhood crush (loving the child hood crush!!), is now a badass mother, she thinks to enlist him but chickens out at the last second (too late dummy! He already saw you!)
Luke knows she’s up to something and he’s already seen many a Rock Chick try to fight her own battles without the Hot Bunch stepping in. He’s having none of it. She’s having none of him. The clash of the Rock Chick and Hot Guy begins but Luke’s got the advantage. He has handcuffs and he’s not afraid to use them (yum, yum yum!).
Rock Chick Reckoning (Book 6)- This is my favorite story of all of the Rock Chicks. Not my favorite characters, just my favorite story line lol....gotta love the music, it's all about the music man. Stella’s the lead singer and lead guitarist of the Blue Moon Gypsies and Stella used to be Mace’s girl. Mace (Remember? The hot Hawaiian ex athlete?) broke up with her though and the loss of him killed her. Stella gets a call, late at night from one of the members of her crazy band. His girlfriend is't moving...(this CAN'T be good)She has to go play clean up and runs into Mace (and a shed load of police) and ends up getting shot...
Mace doesn’t like it much that his ex-girlfriend got shot right in front of him but it’s worse. A very bad man has thrown down the gauntlet and all the Rock Chicks are in the firing line. Stella doesn’t want Mace to be the one to keep her alive, but she has no choice. Mainly because Mace isn’t giving her one (ALPHA MALE!!!!)
Sadie is known by all as The Ice Princess (but of course she isn't!). Her father, a now-incarcerated Drug Lord, has kept her under his thumb her whole life (while she played the perfect daughter role, standing by her father) and she’s learned enough from living in his world to give everyone the cold shoulder. But one inebriated night, she shows Hector (who is working undercover to bust her father, and beside that is her father's most trusted man) the Real Sadie and he knows he’ll stop at nothing to have her.
Hector makes one (huge) mistake, he waits for Sadie to come to him. Tragedy strikes and Sadie’s got a choice, she can retreat behind her Ice Fortress, or she can embrace the Rock Chick/Hot Bunch World. Guided by Hector, the Rock Chicks, the Hot Bunch and her new gay roommates, Buddy and Ralphie, Sadie negotiates a life out from under her father’s thumb. A life that includes poison, arson and learning how to make s’mores.
Ahhh, Rock Chicks, don't we all want to be one! This series was AWESOME!!! You know we love anything by Kristen Ashley, this was my 2nd favorite series. In this series we meet some super uber alpha males, along with some kick ass rock chicks! We are introduced to some of the best music and beside the alpha males and rock chicks we meet some stupendous side characters.
One of my favorite things about Kristen Ashley series is that we meet the same characters in each book. We may be mildly introduced to one character in a book and then later in the series we can get to know them on a more personal lever (hehe). We also get to follow along with past characters and know what else that have going on after we finish their book. This helps to close doors and answer unanswered questions, I LOVE IT!!
Rock Chick (Book 1)- In book one we have our fabolous red headed, wild child Indy. She is the owner of a used book store (this is the hot hang out in all of the books). Lee is her best friend Ally's brother. Ally has wanted Indy and Lee to be together forver. Lee is the owner of a top notch private investigator service.
Indy and Ally not so knowingly form the rock chicks when they start an investigation of their own. We have a bag of missing diamonds, stun guns, pot heads and hot private investigators....what else do we need!
Rock Chick Rescue (Book 2)- Jet (who now works for Indy at the book store) is our next heroine. Jet has everything under the sun going on in her life. She works 2 jobs, takes care of her sick mother and tries to take care of her no good father. Eddie (oh, smoking hot Eddie!), a cop who has the hots of Jet. Het is way to busy to notice Eddie, not to mention where would she find the time to take care of anyone else in her life. Because of her up to no good father, Jet is threatened at her 2nd job (working at a strip bar!). Enter, savage Eddie! He wants to help Jet and take care of her. Jet DOES NOT want Eddie's help (what is wrong with this woman!).
We get to follow along with what is going on with Lee and Indy in this book, and also meet a few new characters. We have a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet’s sister Lottie “The Queen of the Corvette Calendar”, Bear and Bear’s long-suffering, chain-smoking wife, Lavonne and the rest of the crew from book 1.
Rock Chick Redemption (Book 3)- Roxie (I think my favorite Rock Chick...it's hard to choose!!) is running from a very bad ex-boyfriend that just does not get the clue that theyare OVER! Tex, our awesome Vietnam Vet from the other books is her uncle and has been her penpal since she was a little girl. He doesn't associate with anyone else in the family, just Roxie. While on the run Roxie decides to check out Colorado and hit up Uncle Tex.
While in Colorado, Roxie meets Hank. Now we all know that our Rock Chick guys move FAST, so of course Roxie is in for it when she meets Hank. Just getting out of a horrible relationship Roxie wants nothing to do with Hank, but we know he ain't having that. Roxie’s got the odds stacked up against her and has no choice but to hold on and just ride it out through kidnappings, car chases, society parties and a wild night at the Haunted House.
Rock Chick Renegade (Book 4)- If I was to be a Rock Chick, I am pretty sure I would be Jules! She is the definition of KICK ASS!! She is a hard core vigilante on the streets picking on drug lords. Vance (whew, long dark hair!!) has made it his mission that Jules won’t get dead while dishing out vigilante justice. Jules doesn’t have time for romance, she’s too busy saving the world.
The Rock Chicks get involved to provide advice and guidance (none of which Jules accepts, at first). The Hot Bunch adopt Jules as one of their own. Even though Jules tries to hang onto her inner Head Crackin’ Mamma Jamma, the Rock Chicks, Hot Bunch, Jules’s long-suffering Uncle Nick and Jules’s friend, the rotund, African-American, Jackie-O wannabe, May, will stop at nothing to wear her down. But Jules makes some bad guys pretty angry, and one will stop at nothing to take her out.
This is my favorite book from this series. I love Mike and Dusty and Finn and Reese. There is so much going on in this book and so many different stories, I couldn't put this book down. If I had to pick my favorite female character from this series it would have to be Dusty, she is strong and carefree and looks out for the ones she loves.
Mike Haines grew up in the Burg, he became a detective
in the Burg and he is now raising his children in the Burg. It's a place where everyone knows each other and they look out for each other, so when Mike's friend and neighbor drops dead from a heart attack the whole town shows for his funeral. The whole family comes together including Mikes high school sweet heart Debbie. She informs Mike that her baby sister, Dusty didn't even bother to show up to their brother's funeral and hasn't come around. Mike is furious, he knows that Dusty went wild and moved away, but he still remembers the sweet and loving girl she use to be, the one he had such a special bond with. He decides to confront Dusty, because her brother loved her and she should have at least shown up to his funeral. Standing at Dusty's door he realizes how wrong he was, Dusty isn't the wild teenager anymore and within minutes of being around her again their special bond is restored.
Debbie is not happy about the relationship between Mike and Dusty, as always she thinks the worst of Dusty and does anything she can to bring her down. Mike has trust issues to work on, seeing as his ex-wife lied to him constantly and Dusty has her own secrets from the past so it's an uphill battle from the start for them. As if that isn't enough, Debbie turns on the whole family and Dusty is forced to move in with her dead brother's wife to help raise their two teenage sons because the sister-in-law has checked out. There is also the story of Mike's daughter Reese and Dusty's nephew Finn (Squee, I love them). I won't give you any details about their relationship because I don't want to give anything away, I'm just promising that you will love this book!!
