I started Eternal Eden by Nicole Williams today. I LOVE IT!! I read Crash a few months back and was so enthralled with the series, I knew then that I would have to read anything and everything that Nicole has written. That has led me to start on the Eden Trilogy.
I am only about 30% through with book 1 and I can already tell that I am going to be hooked. The book kind of reminds me of books by 2 of my favorite authors; It's like a mash up of Providence by Jamie McGuire and The Fallen Star by Jessica Sorensen, but of course with the touch that only Nicole Williams can give it.
College sophomore Bryn Dawson is a self-proclaimed poster child for normal. However, the day William Hayward enters her life, normalcy is the last thing Bryn will be able to count on if she wants to be with him. Too mysterious and appealing to be good for a girl, Bryn feels drawn to him in a way that seems out of her control—as if fate is orchestrating it.
Despite every red flag and warning siren going off in her head telling her not to, Bryn falls hard for William, knowing he’s categorically different from anyone she’s ever met. She never imagined how right she was. When William takes her deeper into the rabbit hole of his world, Bryn must decide just how much she is willing to sacrifice to be with him, knowing no matter what, fate always finds a way to have the last laugh.
Spinning a new twist on star-crossed lovers, Eternal Eden will put Bryn through a gauntlet of turmoil, challenging her to find the power within herself to become the heroine in her own story.

There is also a spin off series that I hope to start next; The Patrick Chronicles.

Disastrous (Disastrous Series) by E.L. Montes Playlist
There are not many song references in Disastrous, but I enjoyed the book so much I knew that I had to make a playlist, so what did I do? I improvised, lol. contacted E.L. Montes to see if she had any musical inspiration while writing so we can have a good playlist.
Who the hell does he think he is talking to me in that tome? And what’s wrong with my dress?! I yanked my arm from his rough grip. “And what? Shall I get in the car with you, a stranger! What if you take advantage of me?” I yelled over the loud beat of Beyonce's voice singing Single Ladies.
I had a mixed variety of music on my iPod, an soon as the shuffle switched from Lady Gaga's "Marry the Night" to Limp Bizkit's "Rollin," I picked up the pace.
"You're such a womanizer." I breathed.
Hello Melissa! I would love to give you the playlist I listened to while writing Disastrous. Below are the songs, but please know the TWO main songs that was most inspired me while writing Disastrous was: He Wont Go by Adele and Without You (Acoustic Version) by: Breaking Benjamin. :) Below is the list of the all the songs I listened to. Fallen Crest High by Tijan
DRAMA..DRAMA...DRAMA!!!! I've never read a book where the parents are more screwed up than the kids until this one. I loved every minute of it. The lies, the fights, the drinking, partying, cheating...OMG, this book has it all. I couldn't put it down, I just HAD to see what was going to happen next, the suspense was killing me. I read this book in a matter of hours and I want to read it again and again. Oh, and we can add two more HOTTIES to the book boyfriend list, Mason and Logan Kade ;)
Samantha lived a normal life, her dad a football coach at the private school she attends (Fallen Crest Academy) and her mom stayed at home. She's had the same boyfriend, Jeff for two years even though they argue all the time because she won't take the next step in the relationship and she has the same two best friends, Jessica and Lydia that she's always had...Normal right? Well it would be if she cared about anything. Her whole world was turned upside down when she came home from school and all their boxes were packed and she was informed that her and her mom were leaving, moving in with her mom's new boyfriend James Kade and his two sons Mason and Logan...THE KADE BROTHERS...OH NO...This can't be happening to her, she HATES the Kade brothers..where is her dad and why don't he want her to live with him??
Mason and Logan Kade are the football Gods at Fallen Crest High, the public school they attend. Mason is mysterious and unattainable and all the girls want him, but he doesn't do relationships just hook ups. Logan on the other hand goes through girls like water, but has been known to have relationships. They are both wild and party almost every night, so when the new gold digger moves in with her daughter and wants to make them change their ways, they're not having it, they already have a mother. Sam does everything to ignore them and they do the same. She doesn't want anyone to know that she knows the Kade brothers. Her world is rocked again when she finds out the secrets her mom has kept from her all her life and then again when she finds out the secrets her best friends and boyfriend have kept from her as well. How many hits can she take before she breaks. On top of that she can't figure out this feeling she gets everytime she's around Mason and why is Logan starting to be nice to her it doesn't make sense...They are assholes..RIGHT?

Disastrous (Disastrous Series) by E.L. Montes
Disastrous (Disastrous Series)
I want so badly to tell you everything about this book but I know that I can’t! I have heard mixed reviews about it, some people loved it while others were like ummmmm, it was okay. I was not the latter, I LOVED IT!
The one thing that made me love this book is the secret that I can’t give away to you. I love books that revolve around that one missing link and when you finally figure out exactly what’s going on its just like, YES! I knew it! But in this case it was more like…. I really didn’t see that coming, lol. I kind of had an idea of what was going to happen, I just didn’t quiet place it together until it was in my face.
Our heroine Mia is awesome! She isn’t one of those dumb girls (excuse me, women, lol) that don’t know what’s going on around her. She is very aware of the real world and harsh reality can be. She is also strong and independent and stands on her own. She knows what she wants in life and works hard for it.
She is at the top of her class and is given the opportunity to work as a summer extern for one of the top firms inBoston . She also lives with her best friend, and only friend in the world. He is a hoot!
I burst out laughing. “Thor? You named your package? Since when?” He smiled. I didn’t. One girl told me in the sack that I looked like one of the Hemsworth brothers, so I stuck to it.”
After finding out that she and Jeremy (her roommate) will be externing together at the law firm they decide to go out and celebrate. Jeremy fails to tell Mia that they will be meeting Marcus, the owner of the law firm. She is furious, how can she get drunk and be around the man who is going to be her boss? And when Jeremy decides to leave her with Marcus to run off with a piece of ass, she is furious when Marcus insinuates that she is too drunk to make it home and he insist that he take her home.
Who the hell does he think he is talking to me in that tome? And what’s wrong with my dress?! I yanked my arm from his rough grip. “And what? Shall I get in the car with you, a stranger! What if you take advantage of me?”
And so we have the meeting of Mia and Marcus J
After the rough start the two start Mia and Marcus still can’t help but be drawn to one another. Mia knows in the back of her mind it’s too son, but she just can’t help the feelings that she is having.
Marcus DeLuca had to be a dangerous man because I was caving too soon; it was just too soon to feel this attachment, to feel and want him so desperately.
When something seems too good to be true, it’s exactly that.
I enjoyed this book. The story line is good, the back and forth between the characters is frustrating (which I love, lol) and the overall feeling of the book really drew me in. I hate that there was a semi-major cliff hanger and can't wait for the 2nd book to be released in May 2013. With this type of book I can sense that they will only be better from this point on. This was E.L. Montes debut novel. Sometimes debuts don't go so well, but I think E.L. Montes did an extraordinary job on this.

What A Boy Needs by Nyrae Dawn
This book is the companion to What A Boy Wants. In the first book we learn a little bit about Jaden, he is Sebastian's best friend, they grew up together and they do everything together. It gives hints that his home life isn't that great. This book gives us a look into Jaden's personal life or should I say the personal hell Jaden lives in. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little emotional reading this book. My heart broke for Jaden, I just wanted to hug him and tell him it will all be okay and I wanted to slap his mom around a couple of times. What Jaden has to go through would crush anybody.
Jaden has always been told he is a nobody and will always be a nobody. His dad hates him and his mom NEVER takes up for him. His only saving grace growing up were his friends, Sebastian, Aspen and Pris. It has always been easy to forget his home life and just be himself, joking with Sebastian or picking on the girls because none of them knew the truth. Everything changed once Sebastian (the former hook-up dr.) and Aspen got together. Jaden found out that Pris has a thing for him just as much as he has for her, but he can't go there. He's not good enough for her and being around her new boyfriend is starting to get to him, he's had enough....then everything starts going down hill from there. He gets in a fight with his dad and gets thrown in jail and kicked out of his moms house. (She chose her husband over her son!! What kind of mother does that!!!) To make matters worse, the DA is Pris's dad. Great, like he needs anything else to make him look like more of a loser.
Finishing out his senior year at Sebastian's house, he realizes that his friends are going places, they all have supportive parents who will pay for college, he has no one and he can't keep tagging along with them. The guys convince him to take one more Epic Adventure with them to New York over the summer. The only problem with this is, now he has to spend the whole summer with Pris, in close quarters and it's getting harder to keep up the wall he built to hide his real feelings for her. Plus, he has a decision to make once the trip is over. Does he stay in New York with his friends until they get tired of him mooching off of them or does he leave his friends and the only girl he has ever loved to make it on his own.

But Evan is battling a deadly infection, and Julia finds herself racing against time as she tries to find the medicine that will save his life. She and Reece find an unlikely ally—Jo, a girl they free after finding her captured in a bandits’ hideout.
As the four travel across the country, Julia has something else to worry about—her memories are slowly being replaced by the Julia of Evan and Reece’s world. Will they find a way to send Julia home before it’s too late? Or will Julia’s body and mind be trapped THERE?

Denise has six children, three dogs, and an overactive imagination. She can be found dancing in her kitchen with her children, reading or writing her next book. You will rarely find her cleaning (hehe, I love this).
In case you haven't read Here (On the Otherside, Book #1) here is a bit about it:
Sixteen year old Julia Phillips buries herself in guilt after killing her best friend Monica in a car accident. Julia awoke in the hospital with a broken leg, a new talent for drawing and false memories of the accident, in which she dies and Monica lives. The doctors attribute this to her head injury, but no one can explain how a bracelet engraved with her name ended up at the scene of the accident. A bracelet no one has ever seen before.
Classmate Evan Whittaker paid Julia no attention before the accident, let alone after. Now suddenly he’s volunteering to tutor her and offering to drive her home. She can't ignore that his new obsession started after his two-day disappearance last week and that he wears a pendant she’s been drawing for months. When the police show up one night looking for Evan, he begs Julia to run with him, convincing her that Monica is still alive. Julia agrees to go, never guessing where he’s really from.

White Walls (The Asylum Trilogy #2) by Lauren Hammond Playlist
There were only a few musical references in White Walls, I found this playlist on Lauren Hammonds blog. (Have I mentioned lately how much I love these books!!)
I've also included the playlist for White Walls below. I also just wanted to say that this book (actually, the whole trilogy) is written backwards and purposely done so. This book takes place during Adelaide's first visit to Oakhill, her escape, and showcases her relationship with Elijah(Dr. Watson). And yes...Damien comes along for part of the ride too.
White Walls Playlist.
1. The Violet Hour - The Civil Wars
2. Canon in D - Johann Pachabel
3. Volcano - Damien Rice
4. I'm Ready For Love - Joshua Ledet (American Idol Rendition)
5. Get Thru This - Art of Dying
7. Kings of Medicine - Placebo
8. Hurt - Christina Aguleira

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! I am so ready for the 3rd book I can hardly wait! Talk about mind blowing, mess with your head! This series is awesome. If the setting of the insane asylum isn't enough for you, just wait until you read about the love triangle? in the series. Ah, I'm just so infatuated!
An excerpt from book 1:
There's a ringing in my ears that I can't shut out. There's a hand on my wrist that doesn't let go. Before exhaustion takes over I look up. Blue eyes is at the end of the bed. He releases my wrist and laces his fingers through mine. I squint as the sedative blurs my vision, begins to decapitate my mind, and then notice the painful look in those blue blue eyes.
On top of the pain in the two blue gems there's familiarity.
Oh God. Oh God. Oh God.
How could I forget him? Him, of all people. The one person in the entire world who holds the key to my heart. The one and only person who has ever really loved me. Then I remind myself that they feed and inject me with so many drugs, that its a miracle I don't forget who I am.
I struggle to sound coherent, “Damien?”
He mouths something.
Six words.
Six words that seem too impossible to be true.
Six words that bleed hope into my soul.
Six words.
“You're not crazy. I love you.”

This book is AWESOME!!!! It's a very fast, insane.....read. I didn't put it down. It is one big mind fuck! One minute I though I had it figured out, then the next I thought something else must be going on and then when I finally found out what was really going on I was like...oh.... I didn't see that coming, lol.
From the second I review the synopsis for this, I knew it would consume me. It reminds me a lot of the newest season of American Horror Story. I imagine the asylum in this series to be a lot like the asylum in the show. Everyone fears the basement, the lights flicker throughout the asylum and all of the patients know that someone is in the basement and electricity is being pumped through their brain. (I forgot to mention that this takes place in the 50's when this was still okay medical practice, WTH!)
Me: Just finished Insanity by Lauren Hammond. Talk about mind Fuck!!! Review to come tomorrow, I can't WAIT to start White Walls!
Misty: Was it......iNSANE! Lol
Me: It WAS!! lol
All the while reading this I couldn't help but think how there really are people in the world that have gone through what Adelaide went through. One person can only take so much, and Adelaide was pushed wayyyyy over the point of no return by many people she encountered in her life.
The book (s) are not written in order. That really helps with the theme to mess with your mind, lol. One point we are present day, next we are in the past and then when you get to the second book it goes even crazier from present day, to now to something that happened in the future but we are looking back on it trying to fit the pieces of the story together.
I can't even begin to wrap my head around the storyline and tell you about it without making your crazy, lol. Like I said, it isn't in order, so if my summary doesn't make sense just think about it, the story is written from the point of someone that has been taken to an asylum and that might make it a little easier for you.
Honestly, I take it back. I really don't think I can write a summary in my own words. I'm going to have to use Lauren Hammond's words. Here is her synopsis:
Adelaide Carmichael and Damien Allen couldn’t be more opposite.
Adelaide’s mother abandoned her when she was ten years old, leaving her to be raised by her abusive and alcoholic father.
Damien on the other hand came from a wealthy family, was a local celebrity, and seemed to have a bright future ahead of him.
Despite their differences, Adelaide and Damien were young, wild, and fiercely in love.
And they had a plan.
They were going to run away.
Be together forever.
And their plan was set in motion, until tragedy struck and for some reason, Adelaide wound up in The Oakhill Institution for the insane.
Adelaide has no idea what she did to wind up at Oakhill, but she knows one thing for sure...
She wants out.
And after Damien follows her there to aid her in escaping, Adelaide slowly begins putting together the pieces of her memory that are missing.
And it doesn’t take Adelaide long to figure out that sometimes...
That one true love never dies.
If that doesn't get you. maybe a few of my favorite quotes from the book will:
"Addy, you are my sun, my moon and my stars. You are my heaven, my hell and my earth. I'd go anywhere with you. I'd follow you anywhere."
Please, Blue eyes. Save me. Be my prince charming. My knight in shining armor. Rescue me from the burning tower of depression, sadness and misery. He doesn't. He won't. He can't.
"Get out of here?" ....."It's simple. You don't."
There's too much pressure on me and I've hit my breaking point. My father is a drunk asshole. My boyfriend's mother doesn't like me. My mother abandoned me. The love of my life is leaving me at the end of summer. It's all too much. SEE, I told you only one person can take so much! And this isn't even everything!! My poor Addy.
So, hopefully that is enough to convince you to read this book. I'm telling you I loved the insanity of it all. I started the 2nd book as soon as I finished this one and it was just as mind blowing but in it's own way. The 3rd book will be out any day now and I CAN'T WAIT!! I need it!!

If you haven't read The Gift yet here is the synopsis:
Beautiful Maggie Mae Williams, a singer in a country-rock band from Boston, is an aspiring bluegrass mandolinist. While on a trip to New Orleans to visit her former college roommate, Maggie meets Zak Robichaud and Justin Boudreau, two musicians in the Cajun blues/rock band the Bayou Blasters. Maggie quickly falls in love with Zak, the dazzling lead guitarist. Despite her parents’ reservations and a warning from Zak’s ex-girlfriend Jacqueline, Maggie moves in with Zak and Justin into their bungalow near Lafayette, Louisiana. They begin music careers that lead to success beyond their wildest dreams, Maggie with her bluegrass band Little Maggie, and Zak and Justin with the Bayou Blasters. But Maggie and Zak find it difficult to balance the demands of their careers with those of their personal lives. As the pressures of touring start taking their toll, Maggie finds herself increasingly attracted to Justin, the steady and reliable bass player who is able to offer her emotional support when she needs it the most.
"The Sweetest Gift" is the sequel to the novel "The Gift" and continues the story of Maggie Mae Williams, singer/songwriter and bluegrass mandolinist:
It has been five years since the end of the first book. Maggie has found out that her husband Zak, the charismatic lead guitarist of the Cajun blues/rock band the Bayou Blasters, has been having an affair with their children's nanny. Maggie divorces Zak and moves to Nashville to live with her music partner Tucker Travis. After winning several Grammy awards, Maggie and Tucker have become famous as the King and Queen of Country music. They are engaged and about to be married, when Justin, the former bass player in Maggie's bluegrass band Little Maggie, returns from his self-imposed five year exile. He has finally decided to reveal a secret that turns everyone's world upside down and causes Maggie to reassess the direction of her life.

COVER REVEAL--The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen
I am soooooo excited for this! Jessica Sorensen has yet to disappoint me in any of her work.
Synopsis:
There are those who don’t get luck handed
to them on a shiny platter, who end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, who
don’t get saved.
Luck was not on Callie’s side the day of
her twelfth birthday when everything was stolen from her. After it’s all over,
she locks up her feelings and vows never to tell anyone what happened. Six years
later her painful past consumes her life and most days it’s a struggle just to
breathe.
For as long as Kayden can remember,
suffering in silence was the only way to survive life. As long as he did what he
was told, everything was okay. One night, after making a terrible mistake, it
seems like his life might be over. Luck was on his side, though, when Callie
coincidentally is in the right place at the right time and saves
him.
Now he can’t stop thinking about the girl
he saw at school, but never really knew. When he ends up at the same college as
Callie, he does everything he can to try to get to know her. But Callie is
reserved and closed off. The more he tries to be part of her life, the more he
realizes Callie might need to be saved.

*********DRUMMMMM ROLLLLLL*********
HERE IT IS!! Ahggg, I love this cover!
Ready for a teaser??
Hesitantly, I push open the door and poke my head into the
dimly lit room. “Hello.”
Kayden walks out from the back room without a shirt on and a
towel pressed up to his face. “Hey, did you get the stuff?”
I slip into the room and shut the door the door behind me. I
hold out the first aid kit and icepack to him, with my head turned toward the
door to avoid looking at him. His bare chest, and the way his jeans ride low on
his hips smothers me with uneasiness.
“I don’t bite, Callie.” His tone is light as he takes the kit
and pack. “You don’t have to stare at the wall.”
I compel my eyes to look at him and it’s hard not to look at
the scars that crisscross along his stomach and chest. The vertical lines that
run down his forearms are the most disturbing, thick and jagged as if someone
took a razor to his skin. I wish I could run my fingers along each one and
erase it away, removing the pain and memories that hold with it. It hurts to
look at it and I lift my gaze to his meet eyes.
He quickly lowers the towel to cover himself up and confusion
gleams from his good eye. He presses the pack to his swollen and balances the
kit down on the edge of the pool table, his fingers quivering as he pulls his
hand back, each knuckle is scraped raw to bone. “Can you get the gauze out of
that for me. My hand’s a little sore.”
My fingers fumble to open the kit, my fingernail catching on
the edge, and it splits open. Blood pools out as I open the lid and I retrieve
the gauze. “You might need stiches on that cut below the eye. It looks
bad.”
He dabs at the cut with the towel, wincing from the pain.
“It’ll be fine. I just need to clean it up and get it
covered.”
The steaming hot water runs down my body, scorching my
skin with red makes and blisters. I just want to feel clean again. I blink
and take the damp towel from him, careful not to let our fingers touch. I
examine the open wound, so deep the muscle and tissue is
showing.
“You really need stiches,” I tell him. “Or you’re going to
have a scar.”
The corners of his lips tug up into a sad smile. “I can
handle scars, especially one’s on the outside.”
I understand his meaning from the depths of my heart.
AHHGGG!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

What to Read After Experiment in Terror
This is going to be a MAJOR work in progress, but I wanted to go ahead and get it up (to make myself feel better, lol) and add to it as I go along and find books that will meet my need for more Experiment in Terror (ah hem....Dex, lol)
Nothing has EVER put me in a book funk as badly as EIT, and I have read A LOT of books! I have been addicted to A LOT of books, but nothing EVER like this! This series has consumed me! I'm pretty sure that I think about it at least once a day (psycho right? I know)!! I am always on the prowl now for something that is going to give me that EIT feel...that bond that I had with Dex and Perry....that need that I had for MORE DEX! It's hard to explain..... if you are not an EIT junkie, then you have no IDEA what I am going through, lol.
I have asked friends, authors and other bloggers for advice on what to read after EIT, no one can give me anything!! We all agree that there is NOTHING. So, if you are in a funk like me and have found something PLEASE, PLEASE share!
Right now I only have one book to add (like I said, the list is SLIM), so it's not really so much as list as it is a work in progress, but let's get this going so maybe, just maybe, the book fairies will look down on us and help us out, lol.
I loved this book. I won't say that it is like EIT, but I would recommend this as a good book to read after EIT. We get that crazy (literally) feeling from this book, and get to go back and forth learning about the characters and what happened to put them in the state of mind they are in now. It will totally mind fuck you. It reminded me a lot of American Horror Story Asylum. I'm still missing the close connection I had with Dex and Perry, but loved the creepy asylum aspect of the story. I haven't started book 2 yet, but I'm sure it will be added to the list once I read it.
