Savagery by Emma MacKenzie Blog Tour Stop & Giveaway!

Savagery - An Erotic Romance

Book Blurb:
In 10th century France, 18-year old Cherine Cadet only knows one thing: that the life of a peasant isn’t a life at all. Tired of working in utter poverty for an unfeeling Lord, with only her indifferent family and love-struck best friend as company, Cherine dreams of the day she can run away from the future set-up for her, even if she knows there’s no real escape from her destiny.

Then, in one brutal instance, everything changes. A Viking fleet led by the powerful nobleman and warrior, Rolf the Walker and his right-hand man, Erik the Axe, arrive on the shores of the Lord’s estate. In minutes, the entire land is up in flames, Cherine’s family and fellow serfs are killed, and Cherine comes dangerously close to death herself. She is saved only by the fierce Erik – but a new lease on life comes with a cost.
Cherine becomes a slave to the Vikings, a fate she thinks is no better than the one she had before. But as she finds herself being shared between the two men, the savage and darkly handsome Rolf and the mysterious and sensual Erik, Cherine discovers that she too has a fiery warrior heart and that the flames that consumed her old life might burn them all to the ground.

Review:
This book made my legs quiver! There were points I swear when I could feel the quiver in my whole body (sooooo glad I was in bed, beside my wonderful husband, lol). It is steamy, hot and graphic and definitely swoon worthy at some points.

Savagery is a historic erotica novel. I was scared at first, as I am with all historic novels. I was like will I be able to relate to someone living in 10th century France, stuck in a life of hell as a peasant? My answer, hell yeah! Although this book takes place so long ago, it was still AWESOME! The time period and characters were what made it so intriguing.

Cherine only know the life of a tired, hard working peasant, and she hates it. She is stuck to be betrothed to someone she doesn’t love and finds comfort in his brother, who happens to be her best friend. Even then, she can’t seem to find what she is looking for. After Marc takes her virginity (very quickly, and not at all enjoyable to her) she is stuck wondering if she is now nothing more than a whore.

She was beginning to feel a bit like a whore, too. And what scared her was that a tiny part of her felt like that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

After waking the next morning in bed with her sisters (one of whom is to marry Marc) she leaves to go to the latrine to find the town is on fire. They are being attached by the savage Vikings.

The Vikings are huge and brutal. Everyone in their right mind should be terrified just by the look of them. Cherine must not be of her right mind because through the terror and fear she is feeling, she still thinks she must fight for a chance to keep her simple and un-gratifying life.

“Her whole family had just been killed, her peasant life was disappearing by the second, yet there was something in her that compelled her to keep fighting.”

Cherine’s life is spared by the Vikings and she is taken as a slave. She has heard stories of what happens to women slaves and lives in fear of what they will force her to do with her body.

Erik the Axe, the Viking that decided to keep Cherine has always been known for his brutality with the axe. He is now longing for a change. He misses home and wants to go back to simpler ways and less killing. Saving Cherine seems to be the start of his new path.

Cherine oozed a sensuality that Erik couldn’t ignore. He would have her. And if he was strong enough, he’s one day set her free.

Cherine is terrified of Erik, and with good reason. He has to answer to Rolf the Walker. Once Rolf sees Cherine he must have her, he instructs Erik to break her in…..(yum, yum yum, Vikings!!)

Erik and Cherine build a bond, but the day Erik fears has come. He must turn her over to Rolf… the triangle begins. Erik wants Cherine, Rolf wants Cherine…but who does Cherine want? Both of the men are savages that she has been taught to hate. But both do her so right in their own way (no blushing, you know what I mean…lol).

The blood lust and battles will keep you wanting more. The triangle and steamy situations will make you think about becoming a whore, lol (at least Cherine’s version of a whore, lol). The end will KILL you.

If you enjoy reading about people have their faces sliced open, women who become slaves (at least in a sense) and men that will do anything for the woman they love, you need to read this!
About the Author:
Though she tries hard to hide it, Emma MacKenzie got her start in writing by penning cheesy romantic comedy screenplays. Despite having seven published novels under her garter belt, this is her first foray into erotic romance. Considering how big of a pervert she is, it probably won’t be her last.

She is a fan of red hair, stuffed animals, nori seaweed, and coffee, as well as things she used to hate as a child, including beer, naps and being spanked. When she’s not trying to tone down her purple prose, you can find her nose-deep in a book.
Visit her on her blog and let her know how much you loved her debut erotic novel!
