The Truth about Faking by Leigh T. Moore

Get ready people because Leigh T. Moore comes out swinging with this book. She touched on so many topics that teenagers deal with through the high school years. Struggles with parents, first loves, heart break, gossip and just trying to find yourself and accepting yourself for who you are. I love this book, I love the way Leigh writes. From the very first page I was hooked and in a few hours I had finished this book..sitting at my desk..while I should have been working!!

Harley
Harley thinks she has everything figured out, she knows that Trent is the guy for her and has formed a plan to win him over. Everything is going great until the new kid, Jason shows up at school and derailed mission "Win Trent Over". To make it up to her, Jason agrees to "fake" date her to help get Trent's attention, but the more time they spend together the more that "fake" line gets blurred. Harley just wants to date Trent. She has wanted him since he first arrived at their school sophomore year and now that he is available she can't give up on her dream guy.

Jason

Jason just wants to date Harley. They have so much fun together, she is the only person he can be himself with and knows that she likes him for him and not for the secret he has been hiding from everyone. He makes it clear that he wants her, but she won't let her "dream" go. What does he have to do to win her over? To make her see that she should be with him? Is it even worth it in the end? Half of the school wants to date both Trent and Jason, including her best friend.

Trent

Trent has his own issues to deal with. The ex-girlfriend, his snoop of a mom, and a secret of his own. Plus, there is the little issue with her mom and the HOT massage therapy student she is mentoring. What's a girl to do?

This was an awesome read that I highly recommend!! I'm looking forward to hearing more from Leigh T. Moore.

On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror #5) by Karina Halle

I DO NOT EVEN WANT TO WRITE THIS REVIEW!!! (Whew, I feel a little better now that I got that out).

This is the last full book I have to read on EIT until Into the Hollow is released on November 6th. I did just finish Old Blood, which is Pippa’s story…but it’s just not the same!! I need some more Dex in my life….at least I have The Dex Files to look forward too J I will be reading that as soon and I finish this review…so let me hurry, lol

Sooooo, remember how bad off book 4 left us? And the immediate feeling that you had to start book 5 right away to make the pain go away??? Well guess what, just because you start book 5 doesn’t mean jack! The pain is still so intense I wanted to skip to the end because I didn’t feel I could take it…but I didn’t, I took it like a man and waited it out (and that was not easy to do!).

Remember at the end of book 4 when Perry told Dex she quit? Well she really meant it and when I mean quit, she quit everything! Shownext, Rebecca, Dex….anything dealing with Dex she was over and done with.

To put it mildly, December had been a hell of a fucking month. I was in a very black place one I feared I would never crawl out of. But I did eventually crawl out of that hole, dragging myself out of the depression by my fingernails. My younger sister Ada helped; she was a great shoulder to cry on. And by cry, I mean slobber. I was an ugly, hysterical mess more often than not. I never knew that kind of agony before.

But don’t think Dex didn’t try to weasel his way back into her life, but Perry is a BEAST! And didn’t let it happen (I don’t think I could have been so strong)

I got calls from him right after he twisted that pin in my heart, a million voicemails that I deleted (before I smashed my phone in a fit of rage). I got a new number, changed my email and totally withdrew form the little life I had attempted, which meant no contact with Jimmy, Rebecca or anyone at the Shownet office. Nothing against them – personally – but it was just too hard. I needed to move on.

So now that Perry is in such an emotional state she is more susceptible to things. Perry is haunted and nothing seems normal anymore. Her parents and her co-workers think she is losing it (oh, forgot to mention she got a new job).

Who helps take care of her in this time of need? Ada and …..MAXIMUS! Yes, freaking Maximus is back (I know some people like him, but I just don’t! I have always had this feeling about him since Red Fox)

But, Maximus believes her when she says she is being haunted and no one else does. He is there for her in her time of need…and really (well kinda) takes care of her

… the last thing I needed was to get embroiled with another man, especially this man. As charming and gentleman as Maximus was, he was still so tightly woven into the story of me and Dex that I didn’t see how any f this could be a good idea.

Anyone else notice what is missing in this review? DEX! I mean how can we not notice he is missing. This book was really hard for me to get through because I just wanted him to be in it so badly….

4 stars (could be 4.5, but I really missed Dex way too much)

Slammed Series by Colleen Hoover Reading Order

I have really been on an emotional kick lately, I don't know what is going on with me, but just thinking about Slammed makes my heart want to break all over again. I have probably never learned as much from a book as I did from Slammed...
About the third book:

“It’s mostly Slammed from Will’s POV with flash forwards…but it also goes into a lot of the year we missed between Slammed and POR. It was something I was working on before I wrote POR, but the way I’m writing it, it would have to be read as the third book in the series. Make sense?”

Lying Season (Experiment in Terror #4) by Karina Halle

Uhhgggg!!! My heart hurts sooo bad right now! I mean, really, really hurts almost to the point that I can’t breath!! Book 4 was going along so well, it was wonderful and I was just like yes! Something is finally going to happen….man, man, man…I can’t say anything, just that I was hurting pretty bad after I finished book 4 and I’m still hurting. I had to immediately start book 5 and have read about 20% and it still isn’t any better!! Why do I do this to myself!!?? I should just stick to nursery rhymes and kiddie books; I don’t have to worry about them playing with my emotions!!

Late night text with Ashley:

Me:Oh man, my heart, my heart. EIT is killing me!!
Ashley: oh no!!! just breathe hee hee whooo hee hee whoo.
Me: lol, man I can't wait for you to read it!!!
Me: Oh man, it hurts so bad!! I mean, almost Kellan bad!!
Ashley: OMG Paul Hudson bad?
Me: Oh no, I don't think anything can ever be that bad, lol
Ashley: lol, what book are you on?
Me: I just finished 4 and I'm, going straight to 5. No break in between, I may die from heartache if I take a break, lol.
Ashley: oh Lord!!

So yea...it was a pretty intense night for me, lol.

Perry and Dex have a project in Seattle to film, and since they also have the Shownet Christmas party  to attend Dex invites her to stay with him and Jenn….all well….kinda a yay moment because of Dex but then we remember that Jenn will be there too…..ewww ….so we have lovey dovie Dex and Jenn all in our face!!

Jenn let out a cry of flirty disgust and slapped Dex on his ass. He jumped a bit, pretending it hurt, and grinned at her. A grin I used to think was reserved solely for me.
OK. This was hell. I know what I had imagined earlier but now that I was actually seeing it, it was causing narrowing of the yes. It wasn’t jealousy so much (OK, it was), it was that feeling that Dex knew how I felt about him and yet, here they were… it was uncomfortable to say the least.

This book was by far my favorite of the series. It seems almost too real, and too relatable. All of the situations our characters are faced with are definitely possible in real life….especially Perry having to choke it up and just deal with Dex and Jenn….(man I still hate Jenn!!).

And the tension in the apartment! Dex and Jenn moved into a new apartment and got a dog together…as freaking dog!! I mean really!! So here poor Perry is stuck for a week with perfect Jenn and a warning from her uncle that she is setting herself up for heartache. She promises herself she will make it out of Seattle without shedding a single tear. I’m thinking Dex is getting a little lost being stuck with Perry and Jenn at the same time and he doesn’t know what to do….well in the beginning….

Anyway, I really can’t talk anymore about this…I HAVE to get back to book 5 and find out what in the HELL is going on!!

This may be considered more of a paranormal series than a romance series, but with the tension and the love I have for Dex, I don’t care what anyone says…I’m smushing them together and it’s gonna be a paranormal romance, so there!

5 stars all the way

Slammed by Colleen Hoover Playlist

We love books, but we probably love music just as much. To tie our love for books and music together we are going to try something a little different. As we read, if an author mentions a band or a song we are going to start making playlists.

To start this off Colleen Hoover's Slammed will be our first! I mean seriously, all of the lyrical references from the Avett Brothers...it's like this playlist HAS to be the first!

So...here we go! Let us know what you think and how you like it. We hope to do this for as many books as we can, of course it will be hard to do books we read in the past, but no worries we have an awesome gene and we WILL get it done!

If you click on the song title it will open up the you tube video for that song. Enjoy :)

Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror #3) by Karina Halle

So far, my favorite book of the series. I still can’t grasp exactly what it is that is luring me to these books. I am just so hooked! Why haven’t I read them before now, I read the first one months ago and could really beat myself in the head for not reading the rest of the series sooner.

I was so excited when I started book 3 and found out that Perry and Dex would have to spend a few days on a deserted island ALONE! Perry is of course still secretly in love with Dex and she hates herself for it.

I loathed this stupid school girl crush of mine

But really, how horrible can it be? Staying on an island, alone, in the middle of now where with hardly any communication to the outside world with the man that you love….well there is still Jenn in the picture (stupid, stupid Jenn! Just get killed off like in a soap opera or something! Lol)
Oh, and Jenn is really not happy with Dex and Perry going on this little expedition

I was getting the distinct impression that Jenn was a touchy subject this weekend, though I wasn’t sure why. Maybe they had a fight or something. I can’t say that didn’t tickle the back of my head in a delightful way.

Not to mention that Dex remains his witty self about the whole situation

No, I mean, are you worried about being with me,” he said, straightening and flicking the cigarette overboard, ever though there was a cigarette disposal unit behind us. “On the island. Alone. With me.”

Before the duo depart to the island Dex invites Perry to come up a day early so they can spend time together, I mean hey, that’s what friends do right? They hang out…. So Dex and Perry go to a hockey game, Dex is very distant and then receives a phone call, from who? We don’t know until later….but after the call he is REALLY distant and won’t tell Perry anything about the call. How does he cope with his feelings? He decides they need to go to a strip club! A strip club! Really, Dex? (tehehe)

So, the next day after getting a boat from Dex’s friend they head to the island (I will repeat, ALONE). The island is full of sticky situations (hehehe, really, once you read you will know what I’m talking about…). From heartfelt moments & intense conversations to full fledge screaming at the top of your lungs and beating Dex in the face during some kind of temper tantrum (the island is really messing with their heads).

Oh, and let’s not forget that this book FREAKED ME OUT! Did I mention the island they are staying on used to be a leper colony! I mean really! 100’s of people died on this island and campers have talked about hearing things at night, no one goes to the island anymore because there seems to always be something that goes wrong to prevent you from leaving the island—oh and Perry keeps seeing ghosts kids….(ahhh freaky!!)

OH! And there are 2 HUGE freak out moments in the book! Well, maybe more than 2....but definitely at least 2 freak out moments for me! I can’t wait for someone else to read it! I know your gonna love it, and really I need to have a few discussions about this one. I neeeeedddd someone to talk to after this!!

The Secret Series by Jessica Sorensen Reading Order

I am pretty excited about this! I had no idea the 2nd and 3rd books for this series would be coming out so soon!! WE LOVED The Secret of Ella and Micha!!

I'm not sure of the exact name of series, I can't find it anywhere! So for now, we will call it Ella and Micha and once I get the REAL name, I will update lol. --update, Series name is The Secret.

Teaser for The Forever of Ella and Micha

I tug Ella eagerly toward the front down, shoving people out of my way. When we step outside, I grab her arm, whirl her around, and pick her up, urging her legs around my waist.
“Where’s you’re car?” I ask, pressing her warm body against me.
She loops her arms around the back of my neck and her eyes sparkle underneath the streetlights. “It’s parked out back.”
I turn into the alley and walk blindly down it as I kiss her fiercely. I trip over the curb at the end, but I regain my balance without breaking the kiss. My hand grips her ass and the other one explores the soft skin of her thigh.
“Did you wear this skirt just for me, so I’d have easy access, ” I murmur against her lips as I inch my fingers up it.
Laughing against my mouth, she pinches my ass. “You at least have to get us in the car before you start doing stuff to me.”
“Yeah right.” I caress her tongue with mine, tasting her thoroughly, before pull away. “I’m planning on throwing you down on the hood right here, right now.”
